Some Individual Issues—Depression, Anxiety, Life Transitions, Alternative Lifestyles:

I welcome individuals and couples choosing to follow an alternative lifestyle (for example, polyamory or BDSM), as I am cognizant of and familiar with these communities and sensitive to some of the issues involved. Similarly, I have experience with older adults (I work with OATS, an outpatient program at El Camino Hospital) and see the need for understanding and support in processing the losses and changes germane to this population. I know how difficult it is for ALL people who struggle with mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety, and the painful growth involved in life transitions.

A motto I like to go by is:
 “Don’t feel like walking?
Go out and walk around the block anyway.
Then check in with how you’re feeling.
My bet: you’ll be feeling heaps better!”

Work with Couples:

I am a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists) and ACME (Association for Couples in Marriage Enrichment). From the enrichment model, I believe in reinforcing the basics—practical tools such as training in communication and listening skills. Once an issue is understood, it softens. Acceptance makes change possible.

Fee for Services:

For individuals, my regular fee is $160 for a 50-minute session.
For couples counseling, my regular fee is $195 for an hour’s session (with the first session usually being one and a half hours).

I am an out-of-network provider for many PPO insurance plans. I ask clients to pay the full fee directly to me at the end of session. If requested, I will be happy to provide you with a monthly statement that you can submit to your insurance company.
